The kitchen, the heart of the home, connects to both the conversation pit and the courtyard, making it the perfect central space for large gatherings. On the cabinets, we replicated the same moldings used on the walls to create a cohesive feel. The client also has an amazing collection of lighting fixtures that she repurposed throughout the house. All of these little details are hers, helping to make this house her home.

We are in the process of adding custom built-in upholstered seating to this sunken living room, facing this exquisite two-sided wood burning fireplace adorned with floor to ceiling handmade Moroccan tiles— now that’s what I call a sunken living room!

Making the most of the gorgeous lot overlooking the Cumberland River, the Artisan Build Construct team transformed this wonderful 1937 Nashville home into an inviting modern, light-filled interior. The renovation included a beautiful rear addition for a primary suite with views framed with large expanses of glass that let in loads of natural light. Interiors throughout the house, both in new construction and in the existing renovation, were handled with great care to ensure a cohesive experience that met the aesthetic and needs of the modern family.

The dark built-in bookcases showcased the restored leaded glass window and helped draw attention to the once-underutilized space and its new purpose as a stylish library-piano practice area. Surprisingly, the answer is usually: Old Windows can be made as good as the day they were new and be nearly as efficient as new windows when paired with a storm sash, new glazing, and better sealing --in some combination of the total restoration.

Historic porches are always character-defining features of a historic home and often are found in poor condition due to their exposed locations. Preserving these features, or restoring them if lost, is key to maintaining or restoring the historic character of a house. This gorgeous front facade is in great condition and one of the jewels of the Historic Edgefield neighborhood. Preserving the Character of your House
If you live in an older home, it is worth the effort to preserve and repair the original details that make your home truly unique. Inside this fully remodeled home, the owners thankfully wanted to take the time to protect the original built-in bookcases and columns separating the living room from the dining room. To accommodate structural needs for the second floor, the design team suggested wrapped beams that look like they have always been a part of this beautiful coffered ceiling detail.

We are both very proud and honored to have been a part of saving this home from demolition after the devastating Nashville tornado. The homeowners worked very hard to protect and restore the home to better than pre-storm condition. We uncovered and revived the original character and trim details by removing metal and aluminum siding. The homeowners insisted on saving the original columns, porch, and windows on the front facade --and restoring to the original style and operation of the upstairs dormer windows. We love how vibrant and charming this beautiful home is now and are truly thankful to have been a part of the home's preservation.

When most people consider what to do with their attic, the first idea is an additional loft space for storage, or if you plan well, that attic space can also be the perfect place for that getaway suite with an extra bathroom.
An attic bathroom’s structure is often a little more interesting, mainly due to the shape of the roof.
The sloped ceiling can present some challenges, but they can be overcome in very creative ways. In most situations, you end up with a smaller bathroom, but it can be exciting and gorgeous and still achieve a fully functional bathroom. #artiisanbuildconstruct

We all know that in many cases demolition uncovers terrifying “sins of the past.” Often, we see poor workmanship that lacks care and has been covered by multiple years of “band-aide fixes”, or generally poorly executed, and just unsafe work.
This gorgeous home is a big exception! The original carpenters in this 1936 constructed home were artists. Much respect for the quality and craft it took to place solid 10” truss beams 24’ high without the lifts and machinery we have available today.

New exterior block foundation work to replace a failing foundation. First:Architectural and Structural engineer-identify the load path...Second step: temporary bracing existing house and excavate to place new stronger steel reinforced concrete footers (non existent on some older homes). Third bring in your masonry team to rebuild the foundation walls with steel & core filled cmu block- (the guys who set block have forearms that can twist most folks into pretzels, so play nice). Look at this complete charmer on the east side for sale again!
So pleased to see this master suite addition in our final punch out phase. The family endured living through a remodel with the added challenges of pandemic related delays across trade partners, suppliers, and staff.
While we all stayed socially distant and safe, it was a new set of daily ‘audibles from the line’.
Beyond being a very functional & well thought out space (architect credit due), it is also super insulated for energy efficiency.
The space is beautiful and just feels great to be in with the tall vaulted ceiling’s and natural light from multiple windows and skylights. The I phone camera does not do the space justice. It looks great, but feels even better.

The team did a great job opening up this 1960’s ranch style home by removing a dividing wall, lacing in new hardwood flooring and refinishing some of the existing hardwood floors. The new kitchen is not only clean and bright, the new layout also provides the homeowners with much needed preparation space, additional storage, a great peninsula space (for holiday cookie making and potential homework landing zone). The new built in media cabinet and bookshelves were a great add on during the project. We are thrilled the homeowners love the transformation of their home into this great new space.
